Get Ready With Me: Transitional Neutral Matte Look for Winter and Spring

Transitional Neutral Matte Look for Winter
Today I’m going to be doing a Get Ready With Me type of post because I’m going shopping with my mom for a dress and taking her out to lunch!  I decided to call this a “transitional” look because it is very winter-appropriate, but also really great for spring, so it’s perfect for the next few weeks when we’re kind of in between seasons!

Also, one thing I want to emphasize in this post, is that when I write these types of makeup look posts and talk about products, you don’t need the specific eyeshadow or bronzer that I mention and use. I’m just mentioning a certain name and brand to give you an idea, but I definitely don’t want you to feel like you have to own Mac Soft Brown for example to be able to achieve one of my looks. Anything that you already have that’s even a little bit similar will work just as well! Hope you enjoy!

EYES

I’m all about shimmery eyelids, but for the winter, I really love neutral mattes. This morning, I’m actually using the Tarte Poppy Picnic Limited-Edition Amazonian Clay Eye and Cheek Palette, but apparently it is no longer available. However, the Too Faced Natural Matte Neutral Eye Shadow Palette (or the original one with shimmers and mattes) as well as the matte shades from the new neutral drugstore eyeshadow palettes would work just as well. After priming my eyes, I’m going  to blend “Barefoot in the Grass”, a matte medium warm beige shade at the top right of the palette, to my crease as a transition shade. Next, I pat “Summer Breeze”, a light matte cream color from the top left of the palette all over my lid and then put “Sweet Tea”, a matte tan from the middle left of the palette in the crease and outer corner for some added definition. After, I’m just going to blend everything out again with “Barefoot in the Grass” and a peachy color called “Peach Poppy” from the middle right of the palette. If you want, you can go back over the lid with “Summer Breeze” in case it got lost. Now, I use the dark brown “Ice Cream Cone” shade found at the bottom left of the palette in place of eyeliner. Now that my eyeshadow is finished, I going to curl my lashes and use Benefit’s Roller Lash Curling and Lifting Mascara because for me, extra curled lashes are especially important for an all matte eye look!

FACE

I am going to prime my face with the Rimmel Fix and Perfect Pro Primer (mine’s almost empty and I still don’t know if it makes any difference) and then apply the Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation. After foundation, I make an upside down triangle shape under my eyes with my Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer to conceal and highlight. I’m also using a little bit of this on my chin, the cupid’s bow, the bridge of my nose, and the center of my forehead. I want my skin to be dewy to balance out my completely matte eyes, so I only dab a touch of translucent powder (MAC Prep + Prime Pressed Translucent Setting Powder) to my T-Zone. For bronzer, I’m using the NYC Sun ‘n’ Bronze Bronzing Powder in “Fire Island Tan” under my cheekbones and on the edges of my forehead. For blush, I’m goung in with the NYX  Cream Blush in “Natural”, which is a gorgeous dewy rose shade that’s ideal for spring and looks so, well, natural! I’m now applying the Hard Candy “Tiki” highlighter to the tops of my cheekbones up around near the sides of my eyes using a Beauty Blender and the results are truly amazing! It gives a luminous glow without being shimmery, sparkly, or glittery.

LIPS

Today, I am going to wear the Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color in “Bare it All”, which is one of my all-time favorite matte pinky-nudes. For some extra shine, I am topping the very center of my lips off with a shimmery bronzey mauve  lip gloss by NARS called “Supervixen”.

So that’s it! Overall, this makeup look is a great way to transition from winter to spring and I hope you are inspired to try this out! Let me know if you like this style for tutorials and I can’t wait to talk to you again soon!
